A message from the President

Assalam-u-alaikum,

I, as the president of Oxford University Pakistan Society, would like to welcome you all to the society's official website. It is an honour and privilege for me to represent Pakistani students at Oxford University who are studying in diverse fields of study ranging from Biochemistry in the Natural Sciences to Economics in the Social Sciences and History in Humanities.

The aim of OU Pakistan Society is to provide a platform where Pakistani students or for that matter students of other nationalities with an interest in Pakistan can come together and socialize. Alongside its central aim the society has several other objectives such as serving as a medium of cultural exchange with other student societies, promoting the welfare of Pakistani students in Britain, generating discourse over the socioeconomic issues in Pakistan and providing a platform to academics and researchers working on Pakistan to share their ideas and output.

The society wishes to contribute towards a prosperous, peaceful and democratic Pakistan. With this aim in mind we will strive to raise awareness amongst the Pakistani diaspora in the UK about the future challenges being faced by the country.

I hope and wish to work along my committee in improving the image of society and fulfil its objectives. Thanks to the tireless efforts of current and past committee members the society has been transformed into one of the most prominent and active Pakistani societies in the country. I would very much appreciate new ideas and contributions in every way possible for the fulfilment of our aims. Please do write to us at committee@oupaksoc.org.
